Safety

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Dodge Durango SRT are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Aston Martin DBX doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Durango SRT has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The DBX doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the Durango SRT and the DBX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available crash mitigating brakes and lane departure warning systems.

The Dodge Durango SRT weighs 635 pounds more than the Aston Martin DBX. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Durango SRT 2 years longer than Aston Martin covers the DBX. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the DBX ends after only 3 years.

There are over 68 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Durango SRT’s warranty.

Reliability

The Dodge Durango SRT’s engine uses a cast iron block for durability, while the DBX’s engine uses an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

Engine

The Durango SRT’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 13 more horsepower (710 vs. 697) than the DBX’s 4.0 turbo V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Durango SRT has 2.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the DBX (24.6 vs. 22.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Durango SRT has larger tires than the DBX (295/45R20 vs. 285/40R22).

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Durango SRT can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The DBX doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Chassis

The Durango SRT uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The DBX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Durango SRT has standard seating for 7 passengers; the DBX can only carry 5.

The Durango SRT has 32.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the DBX (141.4 vs. 109).

The Durango SRT has .1 inches more front shoulder room and 3.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the DBX.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Durango SRT’s middle row seats recline. The DBX’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Durango SRT’s cargo area provides more volume than the DBX.

Towing

The Durango SRT’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the DBX’s (8700 vs. 5940 pounds).

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Durango SRT to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Aston Martin doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the DBX.

Ergonomics

The Durango SRT has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The DBX doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Durango SRT’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DBX does not have an oil pressure gauge.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Durango SRT has a standard rear wiper. The DBX doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Durango SRT has standard extendable sun visors. The DBX doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Durango SRT has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the DBX.

The Dodge Durango SRT has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the overhead console. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Aston Martin charges extra for Homelink® on the DBX.

The Durango SRT has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The DBX doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Recommendations

The Dodge Durango outsold the Aston Martin DBX by almost 94 to one during 2024.
