Safety

Both the Wagoneer S and Optiq have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Wagoneer S has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Optiq’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the Wagoneer S and the Optiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available four-wheel drive.

The Jeep Wagoneer S weighs 475 to 533 pounds more than the Cadillac Optiq. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wagoneer S for 2 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 2 visits). Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Optiq.

There are over 4 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer S’ warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. With 14 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Jeep higher than Cadillac.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac With 6 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jeep higher than Cadillac.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Jeep vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Jeep 2 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

Engine

The Wagoneer S Limited 4dr Sport Utility’s standard electric motors produces 200 more horsepower (500 vs. 300) and 170 lbs.-ft. more torque (524 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors. The Wagoneer S’ optional electric motors produces 300 more horsepower (600 vs. 300) and 263 lbs.-ft. more torque (617 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Wagoneer S All Season Tires can travel longer on a full charge than the Optiq (303 miles vs. 302 miles).

For better stopping power the Wagoneer S’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Optiq:

Tires and Wheels

The Wagoneer S has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Optiq doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

For greater off-road capability the Wagoneer S has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (6.4 vs. 6 inches), allowing the Wagoneer S to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Wagoneer S has .4 inches more front hip room, .4 inches more front shoulder room, .2 inches more rear legroom, 3.4 inches more rear hip room and 1.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Optiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Wagoneer S’ rear seats recline. The Optiq’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Optiq with its rear seat up (30.6 vs. 26 cubic feet). The Wagoneer S 4dr Sport Utility has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Optiq with its rear seat folded (61 vs. 57 cubic feet).

Towing

The Wagoneer S’ standard towing capacity is much higher than the Optiq’s (3500 vs. 1500 pounds).

Ergonomics

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Wagoneer S to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Optiq doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Wagoneer S has a standard rear wiper. The Optiq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Wagoneer S’ passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Optiq doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Recommendations

The Jeep Wagoneer outsold the Cadillac Optiq by over 108 to one during 2024.
